ENVC course

One of the best courses that I have taken in my PGSEM course that I am enjoying a lot is the Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation...it really makes one think aloud whether creating a new entrepreneur is really so risky or an insurmountable thing to do.

Along with very interesting cases and concepts (me particularly liking the ideas of bootstrapping and effectual thinking), some guest lecturers also come and share their experiences. One standout line from one of the presentations was about the idea that people being in the IT industry are like - "Trespassers will be recruited" kind of industry in India at this point and hence a person is not really going to miss much when he takes a break from work to try something new to do (either creating a new venture or just doing the things that one wanted to do in life)...brings a really fresh perspective to life in general.

One additional thing worth a mention is the professor (K Kumar) who is the Chairman of NSRCEL (IIMB's incubation center). He has some really insightful anecdotes (for example in today's class he mentioned that one way to leverage social capital is to request for help from others...if others are given importance, then they will do a good job of the work given. It sounds counter intuitive since it feels that the social capital will increase if one helps others and not vice versa but I have seen this work in real life (in office) and funnily I have seen it work really well.

So, that's my duty done (this year's quota of blogging is over)...adios

PS: If anyone needs to learn guitar online then this link might be helpful - http://guitar.about.com/library/blguitarlessonarchive.htm. I am trying it out and so far it seems the least confusing of the materials that I have seen till now.

Semblance of a break

This Q has been a really hectic one with either quiz or midterm or assignments every week. The next week will be one of the weeks when there will be nothing (assuming that no prof takes any surprise quizzes)...so here I am after a long time.

This is the IPL season: with the competition heating up really well this time around. Bangalore seems to be really gelling well Delhi & Mumbai also doing their part in providing immense entertainment value. Tendulkar seems to be like wine, getting better with age. He seems to be getting into the thick of things in T20 too...

Yesterday was one of those shopping binge days when my credit card had to bear the brunt of it all :) (and me one month later :D)

So, that's all I have time to blog now. Hope to catch up on some studies and watch Clash of Titans this week.

Adios
